Conceptual AR integration for F1 on Apple TV that evolves race streaming into spatial interaction and personalization, unlocking models of helmets and cars based on the way users watch and transforming loyalty into legacy.

Goal

How can Formula 1's Apple TV experience evolve to recognize commitment and reflect user loyalty to drivers and teams?

Problem

The existing F1 streaming model lacks interactive and personalized experiences for committed digitally-native users.

Research

Interviews with four F1 enthusiasts and F1's internal survey data pointed to the same two findings: closeness to drivers drives loyalty, and fans increasingly expect digitally intuitive and interactive experiences.

The Paddock

Bridging Apple’s AR Quick Look technology with Formula 1’s Multi-Camera Driver Onboard system.

System Design

The Paddock integrates into Apple TV's shelf UI with rows for new unlocks, helmets, cars, and upcoming unlocks.
Lap-Based Unlocks

Watching any session—live, replay, or practice—earns progress.

AR Quick Look Integration

Unlocked items are viewable in the user’s physical space (helmets function like filters) via Apple’s AR Quick Look.

Personalized Season Recap

Total laps watched, most-followed drivers, and season consistency compile into a personalized end-of-season recap with exclusive rewards.
